See the Future wins big at its first five-a-side football competition.

Honiton charity See the Future kicked off its very first five-a-side football competition - raising more than £600. The event in Offwell attracted plenty of support with 14 teams playing on the day to win the Jacqueline Trophy. The Bore Fillers were crowned the overall winners taking home the trophy and £100. The runners-up were presented with medals.

See the Future was set up by founder Leanne Greengrass after her mother, Jacqueline, was diagnosed with a rare eye cancer following a routine eye test and had to have her eye removed. Money raised will go towards helping fund further research into conditions which can lead to sight loss. Sadly, Jacqueline died this year - a special Easter walk was held last April in her memory.

Leanne said: “It was a fun-filled day for all the family. I was amazed by the turnout of people that were there. Like all events that See The Future carry out, it was very overwhelming.

“From the positive feedback we will make this an annual event and like every first event, it’s a learning curve, so next year will be even better.”

It continues to be a busy year for the charity, which has a number of events coming up. These include a barn dance in Farway on June 7, a skydiving day on August 3 in Dunkeswell, followed by the third annual summer ball on Friday, September 19, at Woodbury Park Hotel.
