Honiton murder accused appears at crown court

Keith Beviss, aged 54, of Woodhayes Drive, Honiton, appeared at Exeter Crown Court where he is charged with the murder of Philip Ryan at the hall in Dowell Street, Honiton, on Tuesday June 6.

A man has appeared before a Crown Court judge accused of murdering an electrician as he was working at a Jehovah’s Witness hall.

Keith Beviss, aged 54, of Woodhayes Drive, Honiton, appeared at Exeter Crown Court where he is charged with the murder of Philip Ryan at the hall in Dowell Street, Honiton, on Tuesday June 6.

Mr Ryan, a 55-year-old married electrician from Westward Ho!, North Devon, was found with stab wounds inside the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall.

Beviss appeared before Judge Geoffrey Mercer, QC, for a preliminary hearing at which Miss Tara Woolf, defending, did not make a bail application.

The judge adjourned the case for a preliminary hearing at Exeter Crown Court on July 6 and remanded him in custody.
