The painful process raised hundreds of pounds.
A Honiton teenager endured a wax attack as he raised funds for a trip abroad next year, where he will provide essential charity aid to those in need.
Daryl Young, 16, of Hazelwood Close, fought through the ‘head shave and armpit wax’ event at Honiton Community College, as he looks to be a part of World Challenge.
The organisation visits countries and provide selfless acts of charity in deprived areas, including the construction of buildings, and teaching children.
Daryl hopes to visit Costa Rica and Nicaragua next year and help finish building a school in a remote village with no education. He has to raise £3,500 for the trip, which takes place next July.
“The waxing really did hurt. I would say it was a good nine out of 10 on the pain scale,” Daryl said.
“Overall, I raised about £650 through the wax and shave event, which is great. I’ve got a few more fundraising events coming up in the year too, including several quiz nights and table top sales. A Christmas fair will also take place in my school hall later this year.”
Daryl’s next aim is to take part in a training expedition for the Costa Rica trip.
