A group could be formed to promote Fairtrade.
Honiton Town Council is to review its commitment to Fairtrade.
Councillor Sharon Pavey, at a policy committee meeting last week, asked the council if it would be willing to renew and strengthen its commitment to Fairtrade.
She recommended that a group be formed to work towards becoming a Fairtrade town and the council commit to only purchasing and using Fairtrade products.
Councillor Mike Allen agreed to raise the matter with Honiton and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the chamber’s next meeting.
The council agreed to discuss its commitment to Fairtrade at the next meeting of the marketing group.
