Axminster police officers offer valuable advice as the tourist season gets under way

Axe Valley police officers have been out and about advising visitors how to stay safe and protect their property while on holiday in the area.

Police Community Support Officers Andy Trott and Hayley Widger set up an information stand outside the Kilmington Cross Services to offer tips to Bank Holiday visitors.

It was the first in a series of information days they plan to hold at various locations during the tourist season.

Amongst the leaflets they handed out was “Stay safe on your holiday” which offers practical advice on how people can look after themselves and protect propriety while enjoying their stay in the region.

Amongst the top tips were:

* Don’t leave valuables in cars.

* Keep your mobile phone in a safe place.

* Don’t leave bags unattended.

The leaflet also offers security advice to caravaners and campers and safety tips for motorists.

Additional leaflets from the RNLI offered advice about how to stay safe at the seaside.
