Record numbers take part in the summer ‘read-athon.’
Seaton Library’s summer reading scheme was a rousing success as over 70 children collected their prizes for completing it.
The scheme, which encourages children to read six books over the summer, this year had the theme ‘Creepy House’.
Children received a sticker on each two visits to the library, and once they finished the books they were awarded their medals and certificates by Seaton town mayor Gaynor Sedgwick.
Skevoulla Hambi-Hilder, Seaton Library’s first assistant, said: “This year was amazing as we had the most finishers of the scheme in our history of doing it. It was a really enjoyable event and we hosted a little celebration party with nibbles and a creepy poem reading at the end.”
