There was something to shout about at the inaugural Honiton Sausage and Cider Festival last Saturday.
Town criers from across the country competed for the title of the best town crier. The competition was hosted by Honiton’s very own town crier Dave Retter.
Eight criers took part and competed against one another in two rounds - the first was held outside St Paul’s Church and the second and deciding round was held at the festival site at Langford Road.
Local town criers from Exmouth, Seaton and Colyton also took part.
Exmouth town crier Roger Bourgein was the overall winner of the competition with Ilfracombe crier Roy Goodwin being named the runner up.
The best dressed town crier award was won by Yeovil town crier Bruce Trigger. While the best dressed couple trophy went to Ilfracombe town crier Roy Goodwin and his wife Bea, who was also named the best dressed escort.
Honiton Sausage and Cider Festival was held to raise money for charity Devon Freewheelers and other local causes.
