Honiton’s Charter Day proved to be a big draw for crowds who turned out to support the event.

Entertainment was provided by Honiton Twirlstars, Honiton Ukelele Band, Emily Miller, the Tudor Dancers and the Amycrofters.

There was uncertainty earlier in the year whether the event would go ahead due to the limited funds that were available.

The chairman of the Charter Day committee, John Zarczynski, said: “Charter Day went really well especially in view of the fact that it was in the balance because of the budget. We did manage to put things together with the limited funds we had. It went off a success.

“We had a good turnout, great entertainers and the weather was kind to us.”

Members of the public were given the chance to try their hand at bell ringing in the church tower of St Paul’s. Lace experts from Allhallows Museum were giving demonstrations on the day.

In addition to the entertainers there was Honiton’s traditional street market and stalls in Northcote Lane.

The day was brought to end with a concert by Honiton Town Band in the Millennium Green.

Mr Zarczynski thanked the committee, entertainers and everyone involved in the event for their support and help, which made the event possible. He hopes to have more funds available for Charter Day next year.
