Take a look at our interactive photo slider and see how far the cliffs have retreated over 10 years.

Sidmouth’s cliffs to the east of the seafront are constantly under attack from coastal erosion and the effects can be seen here in our interactive photo slider. This slider dramatically shows how far the cliffs have retreated over a 10-year period from 2006 to 2016.

Move the slider from left to right to see how the cliffs have eroded over 10 years.

The Herald recently reported the latest cliff fall, which saw up to 1,000 tons of earth break away and crash on to the pebble beach. This follows a number of collapses in the last few months. At the time, some residents said they thought it was the biggest fall they had seen and that there have been more in the past four months than in the last few years.
