Axminster fundraising group wants local people to stage their own ‘Blooming Great Tea Party”

Marie Curie Cancer Care fundraisers in Axminster held “A Blooming Great Tea Party” – and now they want others to put the kettle on, too.

The group is encouraging local people to get together with their friends, family and neighbours to stage similar events this June to help raise vital funds for the charity.

They say every cup of tea and every slice of cake sold helps Marie Curie Nurses to provide more free care to people with terminal illnesses in their own homes in this area.

Sandy Sinclair, chairman of the local fundraising group, said: “It was great fun holding our Blooming Great Tea Party and we’re calling on everyone in the community to host their own this June. It can be anything from a small gathering of friends or colleagues for a cup of tea and a slice of cake to a big summer garden party.

“By taking part they will be helping to raise the crucial funds that make it possible for Marie Curie Nurses to provide care for terminally ill people at the time when they need it most.”

For more information and to sign up for a free Blooming Great Tea Party fundraising pack, visit www.mariecurie.org.uk/teaparty or call 0845 052 4184.

Anyone wanting to get help from the Marie Curie Nursing Service, should talk to their GP, district nurse or discharge nurse. For more information visit: www.mariecurie.org.uk
