Vote for your favourite.

Services and goods offered by independent businesses in Seaton are being celebrated - and you are being asked to play a part.

You can vote for your favourite independent business in the Seaton Business Awards, being launched today by Seaton and District Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Midweek Herald.

Tell us what you like - and even what you don’t like - about being a customer of businesses in Seaton.

All completed nominations will be entered into a free prize draw.

There are two categories - Best Independent Retail Business and Best Independent Non-Retail Business - and 10 businesses will be shortlisted before the overall winners are announced.

Heidi Hallam, Seaton’s business development officer, said: “The aims of the Seaton Business Awards are to support local independent businesses and encourage more people to shop locally in Seaton.

“It is hoped that the awards will also generate useful feedback for local businesses about what their customers think about them.”

Marcus Hartnell, chairman of Seaton and District Chamber of Commerce, said: “The Seaton Business Awards will give recognition to the devotion and hard work of our independent businesses in Seaton.”

Entry forms are available from Seaton Town Hall, most businesses in the resort and by downloading from the chamber’s website - http://www.seaton-chamber.org.uk/ Nominations must be sent for the attention of Heidi Hallam to Seaton Town Hall, Fore Street, Seaton EX12 2LD by November 24.

Only one nomination per person will be allowed and businesses cannot nominate themselves.

Nominate a business by explaining:

Which is your favourite Seaton business and why?

What do you like about doing business in Seaton?

What do you not like about doing business in Seaton?

Don’t forget to include your name, address, telephone number and, if applicable, an email address.

The final result will be announced at the chamber’s Christmas Celebration event on December 14.

The adjudication panel will include Belinda Bennett (Midweek Herald), Nick Stephen (East Devon District Council) and Heidi Hallam. The decisions of the adjudicators will be final.

East Devon District Council and Seaton and District Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Midweek Herald, are sponsoring the awards.

The two top award winners will each receive a marketing package to help their business.

Businesses can get copies of the entry form to display for their customers by emailing heidi.h@bipwestdevon.biz.

The free prize draw is open to people aged over the age of 18.

There are two prizes up for grabs - a one-day jewellery making course with Eclectic School of Jewellery and Design or a hamper of local produce.
