Seaton Co-op presents £1,000 from its community fund to help local youngsters
Seaton Library Youth Group has been awarded £1,000 from the Co-op Community fund to help with running costs.
The money was presented to them by Sophie O’Connell who works at the store in Harepath Road and has been a volunteer at the youth group in the past. She suggested applying to the supermarket for cash help.
Skevoulla Hambi-Hilder has been running the group for some time after sessions were set up by Devon Youth Services and Devon Libraries. But funding cuts have seen resources dwindle.
Now the main funding is a grant from Seaton Town Council, thanks to whom the group is still running this year. Seaton Phoenix has also kindly given a generous grant to help with resources and refreshments.
The library is open to all aged 11to 19, from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday evenings, offering a safe, free place to meet friends and chat, use computers, do a variety of crafts or play games on the Wii – whatever they prefer. All are welcome.
