Seaton club members hand over cheque towards the cost of youngsters’ outing
It was party time for Seaton and District Lions Club when they celebrated their 28th charter anniversary on Friday.
Three founder members were amongst those at the gathering at The Dolphin Hotel, in Beer.
The celebration was also attended by district governor Julian Chadwick, accompanied by his wife Lynette and there were Lions representatives from Bridport, Crewkerne, Honiton, Ilminster, Axminster, Sidmouth, Babbacombe and St Marychurch and Taunton Deane.
President Neil Rutter outlined many of the Seaton club’s achievements over the past 12 months, and the various organisations that had benefitted from over £6,000 donations, before proposing the toast to Lions Clubs International. The formal response was made by Mr Chadwick.
A welcome was given by Lion Rosemary Partridge-Hogbin on behalf of the Seaton Club to all visiting guest clubs together with Lions partners. A formal toast to visitors and guests was made by the Seaton and District Lions and an amusing response, on behalf of visitors, was given by Steve Guilbert, president of Honiton Lions Club.
Earlier, the Lions visited the 1st and 2nd Seaton Brownies to present them with a cheque towards the cost of an outing later this year.
