Colyton woman plans to scale Afirca’s highest peak to raise money for meningitis research

A young Colyton woman is planning to scale Africa’s highest peak to raise money for charity.

Natalie Callaghan will be amongst a party of students from the University of Surrey attempting to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, in June.

To take part the former Axe Valley Community College student has to raise £2,650 for her chosen charity – the

Meningitis Research Foundation.

“So any donation, big or small, counts and would be appreciated,” said Natalie. “I am asking people to please help me on my crazy adventure.

“We will face be facing all sorts of challenges, including rough terrain, extreme weather conditions and battles with altitude sickness . But it’s all for a worthwhile cause. Meningitis can affect anyone at any age and it’s estimated there are around 3,400 cases a year - that’s nine people becoming ill a day.”

Natalie, who is in her second year studying English literature, lives at Mount View, Colyton.

She can be contacted by e mail at nc00092@surrey.ac.uk
