A new bespoke gym in Honiton has officially opened its doors to the public.

B! Health and Fitness, based at Heathpark Industrial Estate, is equipped with facilities suitable for a cross-section of abilities, from beginner to experienced athlete and trainer level.

It also includes Honiton’s first bespoke indoor cycling studio and intends to bring a variety of training styles.

Craig Bernhardt, who already runs a successful gym in Lyme Regis, is the man behind the new gym, and revealed he had been trying to set up the business in Honiton since 2014.

Speaking to the Herald, Mr Bernhardt said: “The uptake has been really good! It has been very promising - members numbers-wise, we are ahead of plan.

“A lot of people have come in and asked if it will be busy, because they have been to the local leisure centre and realised it gets quite full at night.

“However, we are a limited-members gym. So when we get 800 members on 12-month memberships we will stop taking people - they will go on a waiting list.”

Mr Bernhardt says it will take months to fill all the memberships, and there are still plenty of places for the taking.

Speaking about building and opening his gym, Mr Bernhardt said: “These are big projects and they have their nerve-wracking moments.

“However, it’s all come together nicely.”
