Axminster county councillor joins college headteacher for a fundraising football match
Money was the goal when an Axminster councillor and a headteacher took part in a soccer match with students at Axe Valley Community College.
The college has recently won planning permission to build an artificial grass pitch, and is looking to raise funds for the £500,000 scheme.
College headteacher Martin Smith and Axminster County Councillor Andrew Moulding donned a football strip in a sponsored kick-about, as they looked to raise money for the cause.
Mr Smith said: “I had enormous fun training with the pupils on this special occasion. The new artificial grass pitch will be a terrific asset for both the school and local football teams. I am confident that Local Giving will help us to move a step close to making it a reality.”
* The Local Giving campaign is an initiative which the Parents, Teachers and Friend’s Association has signed up to.
It is currently running its Government-sponsored “Grow your Tenner” scheme, which means that for every £10 donated towards the funding of the pitch, the school will receive £22.50.
However, the offer will only run for a short time. To find out more visit https://localgiving.com/search?name=axe
