There was no shortage of volunteers to help Honiton Primary School staff escort 38 children on an outing.

The trip was to Old Trafford to see Manchester United play in the European Champions League.

Eight dads were happy to help and Honitonians watched the Red Devils score a 1-0 victory against Galatasaray on September 20.

Teacher Gilly Linnane said: “It was a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the children - all but two had never been before.

“The children told me it was like a dream come true and that it was amazing, seeing it live.”

Although difficult to organise, the school says it was a brilliant day and that the children left Old Trafford with memories they will treasure for the rest of their lives.
