AXMINSTER-based president of the Devon Pensioners' Action Forum Albert Venison has launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Gordon Brown. For the past 10 years Mr Venison has written to the Prime Minister demanding answers over the financial difficul-ties faced by many pensioners up and down the country. But he has never received a response beyond a standard letter of thanks.Last year Mr Venison even invited him to his Axminster bung-alow for tea, but was informed that "due to foot and mouth" Mr Brown would not be able to make it.Now Mr Venison has had enough and hit back at Mr Brown saying: "The practice of giving these letters to a person in the Ministerial Correspondence Unit of the Department of Works and Pensions to answer is to be deplored - especially when signed by an individual who fails to indicate whether he is the tea boy or, perhaps, the hall porter."This action adds to the feeling they seem to have for the older generation, that of contempt, since Mr Brown was asked to find the time to answer himself. Instead we have a letter that does not in any way address the issues that were raised and is a re-run of dozens of letters that I have received over the past 10 years and at one time papered my office wall with but have now stopped, since they all said the same thing.
