Thank you, Cystic Fibrosis supporters, in Honiton for your interest and support during 2007. From the three stalls we held in Lace Walk and the 75th anniversary celebration, we collected £2,100 - a fantastic result. I also received donations, which brought the grand total for 2007 to £3,200. Thank you all so much for helping us in this cause, which has enabled us to send substantial amounts to the CF Trust to further the research of the UK's leading CF Gene Therapy teams from London, Edinburgh and Oxford, who are working together to find a way to remove the life-threatening element of cystic fibrosis.I would also like to thank Axminster Young Farmers', who are supporting us. They collected money for us when they went carol singing in Axminster, then their Boxing Day Dip at Seaton, and their chairman is having his head shaved on January 21 for CF. I really appreciate their support and interest. The scientists have now developed a gene therapy product to correct the faulty gene that causes CF and during 2008, they aim to carry out clinical trials. This has the potential to prevent 90 per cent of deaths in CF and with the help and support of people like you, we are able to help fund this vital work.As many of you know, my grand-daughter, who is eight years old, suffers with CF, this is why I became so involved with fundraising for The Trust, this gene therapy product will mean an extended life for her and the many other young people who suffer.I will be arranging dates for stalls in Lace Walk during 2008 and look forward to seeing you all.
