Axminster statue once branded “a mossy mess” is restored to its original pristine condition
It was a moo-ving experience…the moment Bella the concrete cow finally got a pat on the back from Axminster town councillor Douglas Hull.
He has been campaigning for months to have the statue cleaned up after residents complained it had become a mossy mess, on the walkway to Tesco.
His efforts to find out who was responsible for cleaning Bella and her drover - originally commissioned by East Devon District Council – proved incredibly difficult.
But his bullish determination finally led him to the artist who created the work. And he was so upset at the tale of neglect he agreed to repair the statue and restore it to its original splendour.
Now Cllr Hull says he is delighted the clean up operation has returned Bella and Farmer Fred to its original condition.
