Lyme Regis man, 71, caught with £168,000 of cannabis powder will be sentenced later this month
A LYME Regis pensioner will be sentenced later this month after attempting to smuggle some 30 kilos of cannabis powder into the country.
Robert Ian Coulson, aged 71, of Anning Road, admitted attempting to import drugs under the Customs and Excise Management Act 1979, when he appeared before magistrates in Portsmouth on Friday.
Coulson, a chronic arthritis sufferer, was stopped by officials at the town’s ferry port on November 3, when he was returning from Morocco.
He was arrested after some £168,000 worth of cannabis powder was seized from a car. It was hidden in four inner tubes in the spare wheel compartment of his car.
Coulson will appear again before the court for sentencing on January 25.
