PLans to renovate the Phear Park tennis courts have been backed by town planners.
The plan would see the current tennis courts replaced with three new, larger, tennis courts, along with a multi use games area for sports such as basketball and five-a-side football.
The scheme is being funded by Section 106 money from developers, and has been backed by Sport England.
Cllr Tim Dumper said: “I fully support this. We have been behind this application all the way.
“It’s been a very good job done by Sport England, our people and everybody who’s worked on this. It’s great to see a national body coming in with local consultation.”
The plan will now be considered by East Devon District Council.
