Laura Donnellan, 37, from Douglas Avenue, moved from Cornwall a year ago - but has found that she does not have the time join the usual social clubs.

She works long hours and has seen a gap in the social lives of people in their 30s and 40s who are either new to the area or who want to broaden their social circle.

She said: “Due to my line of work in the hospitality industry, which consists of unsociable hours, it’s difficult to join any clubs which would enable me to meet people within my age group.

“I believe there are a lot of people in the same or similar situation, whether you’re a couple, single parent, recently separated or new to the area.

“It would be fantastic to get people together to widen their social circle and for professional skills sharing opportunities, not to mention, most importantly, having fun. This is not a dating club but an opportunity for like-minded people to socialise and make new friends.”
