Seaton and Axminster will part company under the new management set-up
Police have announced changes to the way they operate in the Axe Valley.
The post of neighbourhood team leader for Seaton and Axminster – currently held by Acting Sgt Matt Sinker - is being lost.
In future Seaton will be linked with Sidmouth, under Sgt Andy Squires, while Axminster will join Honiton, under Sgt Jim Humphrey.
The new set up was outlined to Axminster Town Council at its meeting on Monday by Police Community Support Officer Andy Trott.
He said the changes would also see five response officers based in Axminster from the end of June.
Meanwhile councillors have been told that Sgt Squires will focus half if his time on the Seaton patch as well as continuing his duties in Sidmouth.
He told the Herald: “I’m going to be dividing my time 50/50 between Sidmouth and Seaton and I will endeavour to inject as much enthusiasm and commitment into Seaton as I have done in Sidmouth.”
