Crimes reported in Honiton in December 2017 rose by more than 20 per cent compared to the same month in 2016.

According to police statistics, 34 crimes were recorded in December last year - including six reported incidents of criminal damage.

Statistics for December 2016 show 28 crimes were recorded.

Reported crimes in December 2017 include six incidents of violence without injury, two incidents of violence with injury, four shoplifting offences, two public order incidents and three thefts.

There was also one recorded vehicle offence and ten crimes classes as ‘other’.

The amount of calls to 101 or 999 in December 2017 reduced by nearly 26 per cent compared to same month in 2016.

Of the 106 calls made, 45 centred around public safety, 32 were related to transport and 12 to antisocial behaviour.

The remaining 17 calls were made up of 15 recorded crimes and two unrecorded crimes.

In December 2016, 143 calls to 101 or 999 were made.
