Axminster initiative welcomed by local councillors

Axminster residents got to meet their local police team at a special “have your say” session in the town’s Co-op store yesterday (Thursday, February 27).

Police Community Support Officer Hayley Widger and her colleagues were there to listen to residents’ concerns.

Deputy Mayor Douglas Hull and long serving town and district councillor John Jeffery were amongst those who went along to support the initiative.

Cllr Hull said it was important for local people to make contact wit their local police officers - it made for a better feeling in the community if they could stop and chat with them.

“I welcome this initiative, it could not be better,” he said
