Honiton’s neighbourhood policing team has been tackling drivers flouting the law.
Officers ran a special operation last Thursday at Dunkeswell Airfield and on the A30 at Monkton where they carried out stop checks on vehicles for roadworthiness and other driving offences. The police team joined forces with specialist officers from the road crime unit, the Environment Agency, HM Customs and Excise and the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) as part of Operation Mascot.
During the police operation three motorists were reported for tyre and number plate offences. Nine motorists had ‘prohibition’ notices issued on their vehicles due to mechanical faults. One passenger was issued with an official warning for the possession of cannabis. The team stopped 43 motorists, who had their fuel tanks tested for red diesel.
A police spokesman said: “Due to the above success, these operations will continue during the year.”
