Children take part in a host of activities at the PGL camp at Osmington Bay

Chard School pupils enjoyed an action-packed week at the PGL camp at Osmington Bay.

Year 5 and 6 children took part in a wide range of activities at the seaside adventure centre.

These included a ‘survivor’ workshop where they learned to make fire using flint and steel and worked as a team to build a shelter.

Zip wire and quad biking was followed by wall climbing. In the evening there was a camp fire and the obligatory marshmallow toasting session.

Other activities included archery, scaling the trapeze and spending an afternoon at the sailing centre in Portland where everyone took to the sea in the kayaks.

Headteacher Katie Hill said: “Over the week the children all faced and conquered many of their fears and made memories that we hope will last them a life time.”

“They were an absolute credit to our school and should feel very proud of their adventurous achievements. We are very grateful to (deputy head) Rebecca Pielesz for organising the trip for the children and to (classroom assistant) Carola Jennings for accompanying the children for the week.”
