We strongly oppose the proposed Tesco 'new store' for Honiton in Ottery Moor Lane on the grounds of: 1. Increased traffic in the High Street, which will exacerbate an already problematic situation. 2. All those people at present living on the estates adjacent to the existing store will be drawn to Ottery Moor Lane in their cars. At present, many walk to the store using the green footbridge recently put in place by EDCC. 3. Its negative effect on local traders and businesses. We have seen that at first hand at Diss in Norfolk. To quote Diss town councillor Glyn Walten: "The siting of super-markets close to town centres has long been of contention and that shops in Diss had suffered as a result." Leave TESCO where it is and say no to their 'freebies'. Encourage small town develop-ments within Honiton, thereby retaining its unique character and charm.
