Seaton school administrator raises £2,000 after completing the London Marathon

A primary school administrator from Seaton raised £2,000 for charity by taking part in Sunday’s London Marathon.

Running in aid of the Royal Air Forces Association Michelle Bee completed the course in five hours, two minutes.

Speaking after the race she said it had been the hardest thing she had ever done.

“I am exhausted, but so happy that I finished,” Michelle told The Herald.

“I trained hard during the winter, but the hot weather today was a huge shock. I felt very thirsty after only three miles.

“I’m in a running club and have run two half-marathons before, but this was my first full one. I might do another, but with my husband. We did a variety of things to raise money, including waxing my husband’s legs as well as cake sales and a raffle.”

Michael Bolton, RAF Association Director of Fundraising and Marketing, said: “We are very grateful to Michelle for her great running and fundraising efforts, and to her friends and family for their support too. Her sponsorship money will help us provide friendship, help and support to current and former serving RAF personnel and their families.”

* The RAF Association offers welfare and family support, respite care, pension and compensation guidance as well as individual support to help injured personnel realise their potential.
