Supporters of Uplyme Primary School pulled on their running shoes and raised more than £1,000 for new sports equipment for the pupils.

They were taking part in the second ‘Mrs E’s Big Wheeze” organised by the PTFA.

Some ninety people took part in the 10k, multi terrain, race while 23 competed on the 5k course. There was also a 2k fun run.

Event organiser Sarah Vincent thanked everyone who supported the fundraiser and said: “The weather was amazing and the runners turned out in good numbers.

“We raised £1,300 for sports equipment and the school is really pleased as it will make a big difference to the resources we have.”
