HONITON Town Council, as a whole, supports the development of a community centre complex and every member of the council should stand by that decision. That's what town and district councillor Vivienne Ash pointed out after Councillor Ron Farnham told a meeting last week that he feared councillors serving on the community complex steering group would vote for a new Tesco - so Section 106 cash could be used towards the cost of building the centre."I would like to remind Councillor Farnham that this council, as a whole, supports the building of a community centre," said Councillor Ash."I think we should respect that decision and support it. I am saddened by comments like this."Councillor Ash said Honiton Town Council would have a "very heavy responsibility" when making its recommendation over the re-location proposal. She stressed the final decision would be taken by East Devon District Council and that, if the scheme were to be approved, it was up to local councillors to ensure benefits are "maximised".
