Acclaimed British earthenware sculptor Amanda Popham will be showcasing 60 new pieces at Steam Gallery, Beer, from Saturday November 3.

Back for another eagerly awaited solo show - her 15th year at the seaside venue - she will be exhibiting her works until November 16.

The show will explore the unending innovation and creativity that makes Amanda’s work so highly collectable.

Amanda’s reputation was established after supplying Liberty’s for more than 20 years in the 80s and 90s. With her unique style, her hand built earthenware figures and artworks have a natural spontaneity.

Inspired by medieval allegories and symbolism, by nursery rhymes, by everyday themes, her sculptural works reflect a range of human emotions including pensive, reflective, joyful, optimistic, doleful, or amusing characteristics.

These are one off signature pieces, all imbued with a touch of love.

Her instantly recognisable idiosyncratic and fantastic pieces have an ever-widening circle of private collectors from across the world. Amanda is a winner of the Japanese design INAX prize, and a long-standing member of the Devon Guild of Craftsman.

Everyone is welcome to attend the launch day on November 3 from 11am, when Amanda will be present. Simply contact the gallery on 01297 625144 for an invite. The entire exhibition will be open daily from 10am to 5pm.

Amanda said: “The great pleasure of making things is that there is always another thing to make.”
