Drummers at their birthday bash

Group has plenty to bang on about after a hugely successful first year

A Seaton-based drumming group held a birthday bash to celebrate a successful first year.

Drum 4 Fun marked the anniversary with a party attended by more than 30 of its members.

Helen Rogers and Sue Althorpe, founders of the group, say they are overwhelmed with the interest they have drummed up since the launch.

Helen said: “We have drummers joining us from Ottery St Mary, Lyme Regis, Axminster, Sidmouth and the Seaton area.

“Over this last year we have all made many friends and the group have become one big happy family. We enjoyed drumming on the beach, at the Blackberry Camp and supporting the Devon Air Ambulance fund raising event in Seaton. We have great plans for this coming year.”

The group drums every other Thursday at the Seaton United Reformed Church, playing a mix of set rhythms and ‘freestyle’. No experience is necessary - just energy and enthusiasm.

Sue added: “A warm welcome is waiting for anyone who wants to join the fun.”
