Retired police officer enjoys a big Beer breakfast before continuing his 650 mile trek

Members of Seaton Rotary Club welcomed charity walker David Harvey when he took a welcome break in Beer last week.

The retired policeman spent the night in the village before resuming his 650 trek around the English coast, from Minehead to Poole.

Mr Harvey, a Rotarian from Tiverton, has been raising money for Hospiscare, Children’s Hospice South West and Shelter Box, an organisation helping those affected by disasters and humanitarian crisis.

But his sponsored hike has not been without its own disasters and he has found himself having to take many diversions due to coastal erosion.

Mr Harvey was greeted in Beer by members of Seaton Rotary Club, who provided him with a place to sleep overnight, a hearty breakfast and a cheque for £85, before sending him onto his next destination – Seatown, near Bridport.
