Unwelcome start to 2014 for new business in Honiton.
A new business in Honiton has had an unwelcome start to 2014 after one of its windows was smashed.
Christine Seward and Nicky Doughty, who will be opening 13, their new business in New Street later this month, discovered the damaged window on the door on New Year’s Day.
Christine believes it could cost her more than £80 to replace and repair the damage.
“It made me feel absolutely gutted – it was New Year’s Day,” says Christine. “This is a new business that has cost a lot of money and we have been putting in a lot of hard work.”
She added: “It means we have to pay for the consequences of somebody else’s actions. There is a limited budget and that is taking money out that could have gone somewhere else.”
Details of the shop are being kept closely under wraps and will be revealed at an open event later this month, which will also raise money for charity.
PCSO Steve Mingo said: “It is unfortunate that we have to kick off the new year with a report of criminal damage to a shop window in New Street.
“We are looking to hear from anybody who may have witnessed the incident on New Year’s Eve.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact PCSO Mingo on 101 and quote crime reference number KH/14/3.
