The leader of 1st Honiton Scouts has been presented with a Silver Damboree badge as part of the organisation’s ‘Beavers in Tents’ initiative.

Helen Turner was awarded the badge by Lisa Parkyn, assistant leader at Ottery Beavers last week.

Helen clinched the badge by mentoring Lisa through the Permit process and being the ‘Nights Away’ permit holder for her Beaver camp.

Helen said: “Lisa had to organise the camp, plus all the other things to make a camp run smoothly.

“I stayed for the whole of her camp and we had a brilliant time with the Beavers doing lots of activities. The Nights Away assessor came out and assessed Lisa at her camp to make sure that everything was okay. The Beavers that were on the camp will get a Blue Damboree badge and Lisa will get a Gold Damboree badge as she will have successfully done enough to get her own Nights Away Permit.”
