A COUNTY councillor has called for immediate highway repairs along the A30/A303, near Honiton, after branding the road an "absolute disgrace" and a "minefield of pot holes".Councillor Stuart Hughes has identified the area between Newcott Chef and Monkton as the stretch of the trunk road most in need of attention, saying it "puts the lives of motorists, and especially motor cyclists, in extreme danger".He said: "I am surprised that the work has not been carried out before now."If this road was the responsibility of the county council everyone would be up in arms and it would be plastered over the front pages of the papers and highlighted on the TV and local radio."Here we have the government's own Highways Agency who don't appear to care what condition the road is in and someone has to stand up and shout about it."Councillor Hughes is calling on the county council to make representations to the Highways Agency to take urgent action to carry out the necessary repairs.
