The shop is at the crypt at St Paul’s Church and is selling cards from 30 different charities, as well as wrapping papers and small Christmas gift items.

The shop is open on weekdays from 10am until 4pm and Saturdays from 10am until 1pm.

A spokesman for the shop said: “The ‘Cards for Good Causes’ motto is ‘buy once, give twice,’ and with more than 70 per cent of the money taken given directly to the charities, what better way is there to support such worthy causes?

“We would like to thank all our loyal customers and wonderful volunteers for their support and take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy Christmas.”

Anyone who wants to join the volunteers next year can either call Jacky Sherwood on 01404 42130 or Lizzie Smith on 01404 43500.
