A Honiton cake maker is hoping to stir up the spirit of giving and raise as much money as she can for the Hughes Syndrome Foundation.

Cathryn Andrews, who runs Icing Occasions, will be giving 10p from every cupcake sold to the charity to help improve the lives of patients with the condition.

The cause is close to her heart as her youngest son Daniel, who is only 29, was diagnosed with catastrophic hughes syndrome. Hughes syndrome is a blood clotting disorder which can cause strokes, heart attacks and blood clots in the lung.

Cathryn said: “If people support the shop they will be helping to support the charity as well.”

Icing Occasions is located at 59 High Street behind Violet and Grey.

  • I wish Catherine every success with this. There are a few of us who suffer from this, mainly women but also a couple of men myself included. If there are any others suffering from Hughes Syndrome in the South West, they are welcome to contact me if they want to know more about a recently formed South West support group. We have a meeting lined up for 18th June in Bath. Tim@kastri.co.uk. I'll look out for Icing Occasions when I am next in Honiton.
