Lifeboat crew go to the aid of two fishermen cut off by the tide on the harbour wall

Two anglers cut off by the tide as they fished from the north wall of Lyme Regis harbour on Good Friday were rescued by RNLI crew members using a rowing boat.

The men, from Portland, called the coastguards when they realised the tide was high and darkness was falling.

Volunteer deputy launching authority Adrian Ragbourne said: ”Since the men were so close to the lifeboat station we assessed the situation and rather than launch the lifeboat we used a tender to pick them up.

“Four crew members waded across the harbour with the tender and then pulled the boat, with them aboard, back to dry land.”
