A Honiton business is set to leave its mark on fundraising efforts for the East Devon Day Hospice Appeal by hosting its very first tattooathon.

Tattoo studio 13, which is based in New Street, will be holding the event on Friday, September 5, from noon until 8pm, and Saturday 6, from noon until 6pm.

Participants in the event will be able to choose from a selection of set tattoo designs.

Chrissi Seward, who runs 13, was keen to continue supporting the Hospiscare appeal. She previously raised money for the charity back in February to celebrate the shop’s opening.

It is a cause close to Chrissi’s heart as her mum, Pat Watson, received care and support from Hospiscare at its hospice in Exeter before she died.

“People can have something memorable that will be there for life and raise money for the hospice,” says Chrissi. “Hospiscare were just brilliant and so supportive. This journey would have been so much harder if it was not for them.”

13’s resident tattooist Nekeisha Horn will also be doing paw print designs to raise money for the RSPCA. Hand poked tattooist Martin Poole will be doing tattoos on the day as well.

Anyone interested in getting involved in the tattoo-athon is urged to book in advance by popping into the shop or calling 01404 42581. A £15 deposit is required and the tattoos are £40.

Hospiscare is well on its way to raising £250,000 to complete and run the new state-of-the-art day hospice in Honiton, which is being built in King Street. The fundraising now stands at more than £150,000.
