A Honiton councillor responds to criticism over parking charges in the town.
The “best bargain” in town - that was the message from Honiton councillor Peter Halse in response to criticism over parking charges in East Devon District Council owned car parks.
He said: “I just want to remind everybody that the best bargain is a season parking ticket. It grants an enormous discount which is helpful. It is an absolute bargain. If people did buy it, they wouldn’t moan about car parking at all - it is a wonderful scheme.”
The comments were made at a meeting of the town council last week.
The district council has admitted that car parks are budgeted to raise £2.2m in the current financial year.
