Police issue warning after garden tools and heating oil is stolen from properties on the town’s outskirts

Police are hunting thieves who have been targeting homes on the outskirts of Axminster.

Garden tools and heating oil has been stolen in recent incidents at Blackpool Corner and Charmouth Road between February 22 and 26.

Property stolen includes chainsaws and strimmers and police say they want to hear from anyone who is offered any garden equipment.

They would also like to speak with anyone who heard or saw or heard anything suspicious in the area.

They are asked to contact them on 101, quoting crime numbers KA/13/112, KA/13/113 and KA/13/115.

Meanwhile Axminster PC Simon Rodgers, local neighbourhood beat manager, is reminding people to make sure that their property is properly marked and any outside sheds or garages are made secure.

Information on how to mark property is available from local police and property marking is available on an appointment basis with local officers and is a free service.
