Axminster company will turn over its call centre to Comic Relief on Red Nose Day

Staff at Axminster Tool Centre will be wearing red noses when they answer the phones next month – it’s no joke.

The company is turning over its call centre to Comic Relief to receive donations during the TV spectacular on Friday, March 15.

Around 100 volunteers will be ready and waiting at its main offices on the Millwey Rise industrial estate to take calls from people wanting to contribute to the fund.

Staff at the call centre will also be hosting their own fundraising events for the charity. Local personalities have been invited to take part in a fun-packed night. More details will be revealed nearer the time.

Said a spokeswoman: “It’s 25 years since Red Nose Day first burst onto TV screens and into the nations heart and thanks to the generosity of the great British public, millions of pounds has been raised to change the lives of people in the UK and across Africa. This year Red Nose Day is warming up to another huge night of fundraising with the help of the incredible team from Axminster Tool Centre.

“As one of the UK’s biggest fundraising events, Red Nose Day brings the entire nation together to ‘Do something funny for money’.”

The cash raised by the public helps people living unimaginably tough lives, both at home in the UK and in Africa. For more information check out www.rednoseday.com
