Clean-up is still in progress following a fire that completely burnt out a coach near Ottery St Mary yesterday, but most of the road is now open.

Traffic is now returning to normal following a stretch of the A30 being reopened after a coach fire yesterday that caused chaos for people travelling in the area.

Highways England recently reported the A30 has been reopened westbound, although Lane 1 remains closed while the clean-up operation continues.

On Saturday, March 10, at around 12.30pm, Devon and Cornwall Police reported closure in both directions of the A30, near Fairmile, due to a coach fire.

The incident took place between the B3174 Exeter Road / B3180 (Daisy Mount Cross) and the A35 Exeter Road, and caused long delays for motorists travelling on the roads surrounding Honiton and Ottery St Mary.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service sent multiple crews to the scene, which successfully extinguished the fire, although the vehicle was left ‘100 per cent damaged’.

Emergency services remained at the scene throughout the night and the vehicle was recovered this morning.

There are reported to be no traffic delays at present. No casualties have been reported in relation to this incident.
