A 49-year-old man arrested at Stockland yesterday (Thursday) after allegedly threatening two people with a large Axe has been detained under the Mental Health Act, police revealed today.
Armed officers were called to the village at around 6.30am after two men claimed to have been threatened as they were walking along a road near the Old Telephone Exchange. They were able to get into their car and drive away from the scene.
A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Constabulary said a police dog handler located the suspect between Stockland and Horns Hayes Farm.

Police said armed response officers attended the scene and negotiated with the suspect.
The spokesman said: “Shortly afterwards, the man surrendered himself to the police and he was arrested at around 7.30am.
