Landlines are back up and running across East Devon following a fault that affected a large part of East Devon earlier today.

A BT spokesman said engineers are now busy investigating the cause of the fault.

We reported earlier how BT said an exchange in Exeter was at the root of a fault that knocked out landlines.

Engineers were working on the fault.

Affected areas included Honiton, Seaton, Feniton, Ottery St Mary, Wilmington, Farway, Luppitt and Upottery, although lines in Exeter were working normally.

A BT spokesman said not every telephone in the affected areas was out of order.

The fault was discovered at around 8.30am.
