Members old and new are joined at a tea party by founder Mary Jones

Uplyme Pre-school celebrated its 50th birthday at the village hall with a tea party yesterday (Sunday, September 24).

Guest of honour was Mary Jones, who started the group. She said how lovely it was to see so many people joining in the celebrations - when she started the group in the old village hall, there was no paperwork - very different from today!

Neil Pullinger, the treasurer, also thanked everyone for going along including the family members who once went to the schoo and who now have their own children attending the busy group.

He said he felt the pre-school must be one of the longest hirer of the village hall, as it had run sessions in both the old and new halls!

For further details of Uplyme Pre-school, what it does and how to join, parents are invited to call Annie Thurgood on 01297 24318.
