A Christmas thought...

Names tell us lots about people – giving clues to where they come from, what their background is, what their parents were keen on when they were born. They give a family link and an identity. Names are important.

And Jesus, whose birth we celebrate at this time, has many names used about and for him in the Bible – all of which remind us of how important he was and is. Among the names and titles Jesus was and is given we hear some of these in the stories of Christmastime: Prince of Peace, Mighty God. Messiah (the Chosen One), King of Kings, Light of the World, Son of God, Son of Man, The Logos (Word of God), Lord, Holy One – and there are plenty more.

Even the name ‘Jesus’ (or Joshua/Yeshua) means ‘God Saves’; he is God’s gift to us to bring us life.

Greatest. Present. Ever.

Happy Christmas!
